The speakers , delegates and the representatives from various parts of the world asked th United Nations to take immediate steps to protect the minorities in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere from Islamic extremists such as ISIS, Al Queda, Boko Haram etc. 

The UN conference was sponsored by the Economic and Social forum of the United Nations in association with the Permanent Mission of the Holy See, Citizens Go and In Defense of Christians. 

When Pope Francis spoke to the General Assembly of the United Nations last September, he renewed his “repeated appeals regarding to the painful situation of the entire Middle East, North Africa and other African countries, where Christians, together with other cultural or ethnic groups, and even members of the majority religion who have no desire to be caught up in hatred and folly, have been forced to witness the destruction of their places of worship, their cultural and religious heritage, their houses and property, and have faced the alternative either of fleeing or of paying for their adhesion to good and to peace by their own lives, or by enslavement.”  Added /Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See.

Ambassador Ufuk Gokeen of the Organization of the  Islamic Countries call for greater dialogue and cooperation among religions to wipe out religious extremism.

Carl Anderson of the Knights of Columbus  asked immediate UN member countries action Militarily to wipe out ISIS.

Father Joseph Varghese, Executive Director of the IRFT along with other officials demand immediate practical step by UN to protect Christians and Yazidis in Syria and Iraq.
